New Visitor Centre - February 2018

The Friends of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve has received the following information from Murray Davidson, Environment and Natural Resources Manager, at Hastings Borough Council.

“ Hastings Borough Council will be undertaking preparatory works on the site of the proposed new visitor centre at Hastings Country Park. Our planning conditions have been discharged and we can now proceed with site preparation works.

On Monday 19th the site of the centre will be marked out on the ground. On Tuesday 20th February our grounds maintenance contractor, Idverde, will start work to remove a layer of topsoil to a depth of 30 centimetres from the footprint of the proposed building. The excavation will start around 9am. Due to the archaeological importance of Hastings Country Park, professional archaeologists will be on site to oversee the excavation to help identify and record any artefacts found.

Posters will be put on site to inform users of the park.

Once this work has been completed, which we think will take one or two days, it will be fenced until we are ready to start building. We will let everyone know when we intend to start the next phase of construction of our new straw bale visitor centre.
