Emergency Contact Numbers

For all coastal emergencies on the beach, coast or sea, think 999 Coastguard.

HM Coastguard is the national maritime 999 service for search and rescue. When someone is in trouble, one of their control rooms will coordinate the response, which might include sending coastguard rescue teams, helicopters or lifeboats 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

For other non - life threatening issues, to do with the Country Park Nature Reserve, Hastings Borough Council provides an "Out of Hours" service on 01424 451999 and a team of Co-ordinators maintains a 24/7 service to deal with a wide range of emergencies or issues that require urgent attention.

Through these Co-ordinators 'out of hours' contact is maintained with the senior officers who will deal with serious public emergencies and liaison with frontline Emergency Services and the technical duty staff, eg Environmental Health Officers, who can intervene to deal with smaller scale urgent matters such as noisy parties.

The Co-ordinators are a useful source of information about the out of hours contacts for adjoining Councils, East Sussex County Council and statutory and voluntary other agencies.
